In April 2018, BNU was among the first selected training bases for Pilot Projects for Primary & Secondary School Teachers in “National Training Programme’’. In July, the ‘‘APEx’’ of Beijing Normal University was officially set in motion — Professional Educator’s Excellence Training Base (the following is simplified as ‘Base’) as part of Pilot Projects for Primary & Secondary School Teachers in the “National Training Programme” of the Ministry of Education. As a pivotal Humanities and Social Science Research Base in Institutions of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education, the sponsor for this plan, the Center of Teacher Education and Research in BNU (the following is simplified as CTER), actively constructs groups of experts to cultivate excellence in teachers based on its accumulated experience of program design and implementation in 28provinces, municipalities (including autonomous regions) nationwide, during which the Base claims its own specialties as well. With Advancing Professional Educator’s Excellence, i.e. APEx as its major objective, CTER strives to gradually equip trainees with compassion for education and unique teaching styles characteristic of professional educators.
