Elsevier's " Chinese Most Cited Researchers " list uses the Scopus database (the world's leading peer-reviewed abstracts citation index database) as a statistical source of scientific research achievements of Chinese scholars, and adopts the method developed by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. The list is based on the following conditions to analyze the scientific research achievements of Chinese scholars:
Based on the scientific research results published by Scopus, the author’s signature institute is Chinese (Mainland) institute, and the author’s current working institute is in China.
Only the scientific research achievements published by the above-mentioned Chinese scholars as the first author and corresponding author are counted. (in addition to the achievements of paper types, also including the achievements of academic conferences, books monographs and other peer-reviewed achievements)
The scientific research achievements of Chinese scholars are classified according to Scopus' ASJC standard disciplines, of which engineering disciplines are further subdivided into 14 disciplines. The number of Chinese scholars listed in each subject is related to the number of authors signed by Chinese institutions in this discipline among the Scopus.
Within the scope of scientific research achievements in the list, Chinese scholars as the first author or corresponding author, published at least one of the world's top 1% cited literature, or the fwci of scholars is higher than 1.
