At the start of the meeting, Professor Zhu Xudong extended a warm welcome to the delegation on behalf of CTER-BNU. He praised the educational achievements of Yuzhong District and expressed high expectations for future collaboration between Yuzhong and CTER-BNU. He noted that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, teacher development in Yuzhong should shift from quantity-oriented growth to high-quality development. The focus should be on enhancing the educational philosophy and academic capacity of teachers and principals, fostering their academic growth, and building intrinsic motivation for professional development. He emphasized that Yuzhong, as a model of advanced education in western China, should strengthen its radiating and leading role, refine and contribute educational philosophies and practices, and provide practical insights for the development of an independent knowledge system in Chinese education. Professor Zhu also presented some of CTER-BNU's recent academic publications to Director Xiao Fangming.
Director Xiao Fangming introduced the overall development of education in Yuzhong District. He highlighted that Yuzhong, as a key educational hub in Chongqing, benefits from a solid economic and social foundation and has consistently prioritized education. The district has built a high-quality basic education system with significant influence across Chongqing and western China. He stressed that Yuzhong places great importance on teacher development and hopes to establish a regional partnership with CTER-BNU. The goal is to create a regular platform for collaboration, explore pilot initiatives in areas such as artificial intelligence and digital empowerment, and produce a series of landmark cooperative achievements.
During the discussion, Professor Song Huan pointed out that Yuzhong's education should not only serve as exemplar for Chongqing but also set a benchmark for the western region. He called for more systematic and structured innovations in teacher education. Dean Hu Yujiang provided a detailed overview of the Yuzhong District Teacher Training College, focusing on the size of the teaching workforce, models of teacher development, and the cultural orientation and core strengths of teacher training. As globalization accelerates and education becomes increasingly internationalized, the experiences and achievements of basic education can reach the global stage through products, culture, and other means. This will serve as a vital showcase of China's high-quality teacher education development. The exchange between the Yuzhong District Education Commission, the Teacher Training College, and CTER-BNU marks a new chapter in their collaboration. Both sides look forward to deepening their partnership and making greater contributions to teacher education in China and beyond.
