Professor Xudong Zhu is Dean of the Faculty of Education at Beijing Normal University (BNU), where he also serves as Director of the Center for Teacher Education Research, a key research institute in humanities and social sciences funded by the Ministry of Education. He holds the distinguished title of Changjiang Scholar, awarded by the Ministry of Education of China.
Prof. Zhu’s research focuses on teacher education, including its disciplinary foundation and institutional development, education policy, comparative education, and the history of education. He has published extensively in these areas and is widely recognized as a leading scholar in teacher education in China. His editorial leadership includes serving as Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Beijing International Review of Education (BIRE), Executive Associate Editor of Teacher Education Research (《教师教育研究》), and . He has also authored and edited multiple English monographs and edited more than ten series of academic books in Chinese.
In addition to his academic work, Prof. Zhu is actively engaged in educational and social service initiatives nationally and internationally. He serves as Secretary-General of the Teacher Education Branch of the China Association of Higher Education. His contributions to higher education have been recognized with numerous awards, including the First Prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award in Higher Education and the Special Prize for Teaching Achievement in Higher Education in Beijing.
